Secrets to Hide Your Figure Flaws
Guide to Using Your Swimsuit to Camouflage Figure Flaws
Find Your Figure….
Wide Hips / Heavy Thighs:
- Broaden top of body to de-emphasize wide hips.
- Wear widely spaced shoulder straps.
- Draw eye up with detailing of shoulders or bodice.
- Get leg opening cut higher at front center of thigh.
- No tight leg elastic or low, straight leg openings.
- Bust padding slightly out on sides for upper width.
- Avoid dark colors (they stop eyes at body’s widest pointhips and thighs-thus widening more).
- Avoid white, bright, neon colors (they add weight).
- Create an even, slimming line with medium shades closer to skin tone and clear or skin-tone shoes.
Large Buttocks:
Cover derriere fully. Avoid cheek exposure.
Call attention off derriere; emphasize another area.
Choose a swimsuit with a low-cut deep-V-shaped back.
No high-cut backs, avoid round or square-shaped backs.
Try bare-back styles or pretty straps on upper back.
Heavy Torso/Nice Legs:
- Get the attention off the torso.
- Avoid eye-catching colors that attract attention.
- Dark shades can help recede body and emphasize legs.
- Try a simple suit with no eye-catching detailing.
- Draw eyes down to legs with pretty shoes. Try a matching-color trim on clear acrylic shoes.
Slender Torso/Heavy Legs:
- Get the attention off the legs.
- Avoid dark colors, which cause legs to stand out first.
- Wear eye-catching colors to draw attention to torso.
- Tan the legs and wear “invisible” shoes.
- Wear detailing on upper swimsuit, pad bustline.
Straight Body:
Any style that defines the waist will add curves.
Diagonally crossed wrap bodices create the illusion of curves.
Super suit pulls in waist.
Halter brassiere with tight waistband adds curves.
Small-Busted:
- Bust padding adds fullness and creates the illusion of a bustline.
- Taping breasts together creates cleavage (then pad).
- Underwire bras and sewn-in bra cups add fullness.
- Try wrap bodices, gathering under or between breasts.
Large-Busted:
- Minimize bustline with good fit and extra support.
- The Supersuit has the most bust support.
- Moderate V neckline (not plunging).
- Order a suit with custom extra-large bra cups.
Short Legs:
- Wear “invisible” shoes to make legs look longer.
- Get front center of leg opening cut in a high V.
- Create a taller unbroken line with a color closer to skin tone.
Narrow Shoulders:
- Thin, widely spaced shoulder straps widen shoulders.
- Avoid halters, turtleneck swimwear.
- Do you have long hair? Wear hair down to cover shoulders.
Too-Broad Shoulders:
- Thick shoulder straps close to neck draw eye inward.
- Try halter and turtleneck styles.
Long Torso:
- Use horizontal lines to cut a long torso.
- Try diagonal seams, wrap suits, or wide waistbands.
- The double-seamed Supersuit cuts torso length.
- Choose a high-cut leg to make torso look shorter.
- Order your usual swimsuit size in “long.”
Short Torso:
- Lengthen torso with vertical lines or no lines.
- Don’t break body length with horizontal lines.
- Try straight or princess lines, one-seam Supersuit.
- Wrap styles or double-seam Supersuits cut torso length.
- Order a custom suit with a shorter “girth measurement.”
Too Short:
- Dark colors and horizontal lines make body look shorter.
- Create a long, uninterrupted body line with medium shades closer to skin tone and “invisible” shoes.
Too Thin:
- Wear white, bright, or neon colors to add weight.
- Choose shiny fabrics to look heavier and curvier.
