This is a great book if you are serious about what it takes to win a beauty pageant. There are secrets about everything from the right hair style for each pageant to the best colors, best gowns, best exercises for developing the appropriate body look and the interview suits. I enjoyed the book even though I would never be willing to do all the hard work it takes. I must admit I have developed a new respect for those gorgeous winners. I realize now that they had to work like crazy to get to the top.

Did you know that there are 7 basic hairstyles that win the most beauty contests? Did you know that long and glamorous hair is the biggest winner in the Miss USA and Miss Universe contests?. As a long haired fan, this was great news. Below the shoulder hair doesn't win for Miss America or Miss Teen USA because longer hair is considered too sexy. What an interesting fact indeed.

Beauty pageants are big business. This wonderful book gives you all the scoops. While I would never dream of entering a contest because I am too lazy to do all that hard work, I have always been fascinated with people that do make the effort and succeed. This is a great gift item for anyone on your list that is a budding contestant.

What Amazon.com readers are saying about this book

Get Out Your Highlighter
I got this book from the library to give me more information about beauty pageants, and I couldn't put it down! I started marking pages of useful information, and then I had to get my own so I could make notes to myself. It is the most helpful book written so far, by a woman who used to be a Miss America judge and knows exactly what they are looking for, and how to get it.

it was a very informative book, and has helped in pageants.
This book has helped me to win and be successful in many pageants. I really enjoyed it and think it could help others do the same!

A neccesity for the beginner and veteran pageant competitor!
It is all too easy to jump into pageant competition without learning what it takes to prepare. Secrets of Interview, Swimsuit, Talent and Evening Gown portions of competition are beautifully highlighted in this book to help contestants avoid mistakes. The importance of paperwork is not ignored either. If you're thinking about competing, I would definitely recommend reading this book from cover to cover at least once! If you've competed many times, this book is just as wonderful as it may point out things you never thought of as well as confirming that you are doing something right. In my opinion, this book is a must for the pageant competitor's library.
